ScholarshipDates is an independent, free reference for scholarship deadlines available to students in India. One thing is what we do: tell you when a scholarship window typically opens and closes, in time for you to actually apply.

Why this site exists

Every year, students who fully qualify for a scholarship lose the money anyway — not because they were rejected, but because nobody told them the window had opened. Indian scholarship information is spread across dozens of portals: the National Scholarship Portal, individual state social welfare and minority affairs departments, university sites, and private foundation pages. Each one publishes on its own schedule, in its own format, and quietly stops publishing when a scheme lapses. A student in Class 11 has no realistic way to monitor all of them.

We keep the deadline calendar in one place so that checking it takes a minute instead of an afternoon.

How we compile the data

Every scheme listed here is entered by hand from primary sources: the official government portal for the scheme, the notification or scheme guidelines published by the relevant ministry or state department, or the foundation's own application page. We do not scrape aggregator sites or copy from other scholarship listings, because errors in those sources propagate silently and we would have no way of knowing where a wrong figure came from.

For each scheme we record the amount, the income ceiling, the study levels covered, who administers the application, and the portal you actually apply through. Where we could not confirm a detail against an official source, the entry carries a visible note saying so rather than a confident-looking number.

Our editorial stance on dates

This is the part that makes us different, and it is worth stating plainly. Most Indian scholarship schemes do not announce next year's dates in advance. They open when the administering department is ready, which varies by weeks from one year to the next, and closing dates are extended without notice more often than not.

So we do not publish dates we do not have. Instead we publish the typical window — the months in which a scheme has historically opened — and we label it as typical every single time it appears. A window that reads "Typically Aug–Dec" is telling you when to start checking the official portal. It is not a promise that applications are open on any given day. We would rather be usefully approximate than confidently wrong.

Who this is for

School students in Classes 9 to 12, undergraduates, postgraduates, diploma and professional-course students, and research scholars — plus the parents, teachers and school counsellors who do a great deal of this chasing on students' behalf. Many of the schemes listed here are specifically for girls, for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, OBC and minority students, or for students with disabilities, and those have dedicated pages.

What we are not

We are not a government body and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any ministry, department, university or foundation named on this site. We do not process applications, we cannot check your application status, and we never ask for documents, Aadhaar details or fees. Every application happens on the official portal, and every link we publish points there directly.
