About this scholarship
The UP Dashmottar Scholarship is arguably one of the most massive post-matric fee reimbursement and maintenance allowance schemes in India. Administered by the Uttar Pradesh government, it covers millions of students pursuing education from Class 11 all the way to PhDs, including professional and technical courses. What sets Dashmottar apart from targeted schemes like Saksham is its vast scope—it encompasses students from the General, SC, ST, OBC, and Minority categories, provided they meet the economic criteria. The primary goal is to ensure that no student in UP drops out of higher education due to an inability to pay college fees. It operates by transferring the maintenance allowance directly to the student's Aadhaar-linked bank account, while the tuition fee reimbursement is also processed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Because of its scale, the scheme has highly complex and strictly enforced rules regarding family income ceilings, which differ significantly based on the applicant's category and the specific sub-scheme they fall under. Students must meticulously check the current year's guidelines on the portal to confirm their eligibility.
Documents you need
- Domicile certificate of UP
- Caste/Community certificate (if applicable)
- Income certificate
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Previous exam marksheet
- Current year college fee receipt
How to apply
- Access the UP Scholarship portal (scholarship.up.gov.in) and select the "Dashmottar" (Post-Matric) option applicable to your specific category (General, SC/ST, OBC, or Minority).
- Complete the detailed application, ensuring your Aadhaar demographic details match the form exactly to pass the mandatory authentication.
- Submit a printout of the application alongside your fee receipts and certificates to your college nodal officer for verification.
Why applications get rejected
- Entering an incorrect fee amount; if the fee claimed does not match the college's approved fee structure, the application will be rejected or partially funded.
- Attempting to use a bank account that is not seeded with Aadhaar for DBT, causing the final payment to fail even after approval.
